I BELIEVE IN
OFFERING
THERAPY THAT
IS…
COMPASSIONATE
My approach is grounded in the belief that individuals who are struggling with emotional or mental health challenges deserve to be treated with kindness and empathy. Through creating a safe and supportive space for my clients, they are better able to explore their thoughts, beliefs, and emotions without fear of judgment or criticism.
AFFIRMING
It’s important to feel validated and supported. I understand that exploring your identity can be a complex and nuanced process. I hold a deep respect and appreciation for the experiences of each individual, and am dedicated to promoting healing, growth, and empowerment for all.
SYSTEMIC
People are complex and are influenced by the various systems that surround them including their culture, family structure, education, workplace, and social climate. Therapy at Sound Psychological takes into account how these various systems impact client’s development and well being.
CONNECTED
The relationship between therapist and client is the cornerstone for successful therapy. By emphasizing the power of the therapeutic relationship, I help clients cultivate meaningful, transformative change in their lives by creating a safe, non-judgmental space and providing insight and understanding.
HI, I'M DR. ALEX
EDUCATION
I am a highly experienced clinical psychologist with over a decade of specialized training and hands-on experience in working with children, adolescents, families, and young adults. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fairfield University, and went on to earn my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University New England, where I also completed a rigorous internship and residency program in pediatric psychology
EXPERIENCE
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in various pediatric settings, including a therapeutic day school, an adolescent inpatient unit, and several child guidance centers. My experience in these environments has honed my expertise in the clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of behavioral, emotional, and developmental disorders that are common among young people.
As the On-Site Behavioral Health Director at Community Health Center’s pediatric site in Hartford, I provide invaluable support to children and families, offering highly individualized and evidence-based interventions including cognitive-behavioral therapy, behavioral parent training, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). As a passionate advocate for the mental health and wellbeing of young people, I am committed to working closely with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal care for my patients.
In addition to my clinical work, I am a respected educator and mentor in the field of pediatric psychology. As a faculty member of the Complex Integrated Pediatric ECHO, a nationally recognized webinar series, I am committed to providing ongoing training and support to healthcare providers across the country, helping them to develop the skills and knowledge needed to offer their patients the best possible care.
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
When I am not working with patients or mentoring my team, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young children at our home on the shoreline, where I can be found baking and cooking in my kitchen, reading engaging books, exploring my creative side with watercolor painting, or simply enjoying the beautiful beach. With my extensive expertise and unwavering commitment to my patients and profession, I am a valuable asset to anyone looking to improve their mental health care.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I want to commend you for taking the first step towards helping your child and family to thrive! Every therapy practice may differ- but my goal is to make the therapeutic experience as comfortable as possible for both you and your child. During the initial intake session, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals for your child’s therapy. I will also review the policies and procedures of my practice, as well as answer any questions you may have about therapy.
Therapy sessions typically involve one-on-one time with the therapist and may also include family sessions. Depending on the age and needs of your child, therapy may involve play, art, talk therapy, or other types of interventions. I have extensive training and experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults, and I adjust my therapeutic approach based on the unique needs of each client.
I understand that each child’s therapy journey is unique and may require varying levels of support. The length of time a child spends in therapy depends on several factors, including the severity of their challenges, their age, and their response to treatment. However, my goal is always to work towards ending therapy as soon as possible, as I believe that children have the potential to overcome their obstacles and lead happy and fulfilling lives.

I understand that sometimes unexpected situations arise, and appointments may need to be cancelled or rescheduled. I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice in case of cancellation or changes to your scheduled appointment. If you fail to provide me with this notice, I reserve the right to charge a $50 late fee to cover the cost of the missed session. I do offer a one-time waiver of this fee for your first late cancellation.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping me maintain my schedule and ensure that I am able to provide quality care to all of my clients.
